Time for the big "D" continued

Well today I started the first of my big "D" journey. The Hubs and I joined a gym. We are going to be working out together while at lunch through the week. We thought the best way to get my journey started was to have a partner.

While I was doing a little research I had a few bible verses that I think are going to help me with my experience as well. I want to help anyone else with their weight loss journey as well and so I am always willing to be a virtual support system to anyone that doesn't have one.

Here are the bible verses that I will be memorizing and reciting to myself:

19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

31 So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31

Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.

3 John 1:2

and one verse that had stayed with me my whole life and I honestly believe this verse is my life verse:

13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:13

What is your life verse? Do you have one?

Until next time....

Oscar Night 2015

If you know me at all you know that I am a pop culture junkie. So, of course, I watched the Oscars this year like I do every year. I loved some of the winners and thought others should have won that didn't. But, one special thing about this year was that my sweet Estella wanted to watch them with me. She asked me who every person was and was shocked that I knew most of their names. We also had a blast finding the best dresses that the stars were wearing. This is the pic I snapped about an hour into the ceremony.

Enjoy!

Now I'm headed to bed! Have a great night and even better morning!

Time for the big "D"

No silly not a divorce. I could never imagine my life without the Hubs!

I am going on a diet. Yikes! I know it sounds crazy. But, after 4 kids and a few desk jobs, I need to drop a few pounds. In fact I need to drop about 50. When my hubby were first together I was a petite little 124 pound tennis is player with an awesome tan. I am not one of those things now. So I am going to try my hand at a diet.

I need to give you a little background on my eating habits, I see what I like and I eat it. I have never had to watch what I ate.

In fact I once beat one of my cousins at a steak eating contest. I'm serious! I was 18 and he (yes it was a boy) was a 16 year old football player that out weighed me by about 30 pounds. He ate 8 steaks and I ate 12. True story. I didn't gain an ounce in the days after either. My metabolism was through the roof back then. AHH those were the days.

My metabolism is now and has been for years on vacation I think.

I will be doing a little research in the next few weeks and trying to find a good diet or meal plan that can work for me. Or better yet find one that wont make me go crazy.

Have any of you dieted before and had good success?

Can you diet and still eat butter? Because I love butter.

I am certain this will work and you won't find me one day locked my bathroom with a tub of mint chocolate chip ice cream.

Until next time...

Our Ten Year Anniversary

Last week my hubby and I hit a milestone. We have been married for a decade! Wow, it has been a great 10 years. He is my best friend and I can't imagine spending my life with anyone else. It got me to thinking about all the things that have changed in the last 10 years. So I did a list of our years together

10 years:
3652 days
87658 minutes
4 beautiful kids
3 apartments
2 homes
a HUGE number of cars (my hubby is a mechanic)
40 birthdays (kids included)
2 presidents
3 dogs
2 sugar gliders
12 thousand band-aids (probably more than that)
I'm not even going to try to count how many diapers
and about a million WONDERFUL memories

Here we are in our first year of marriage. Young, happy and full of energy!

For our anniversary we went to Oklahoma and stayed at a casino hotel. It was so fun. We gambled, I lost and Steven won. We ended up leaving with the same money we went with so it was a good trip.

Here we are in the casino. He never smiles at the camera. So when I ask him to smile just this once for our anniversary this is the picture I get. GEEZ, I love this guy!

I did what I do best. I relaxed and read a book.

Steven did was he does best. He won!

Here is the view from our hotel room. It was so fun! We were like 2 kids when we walked into the room. We spent probably an hour watching people from the window.

We are back now and life is in full swing again. I can't wait to see where we are or what we have done in the next 10 years. But, I am betting that it will be just as fun and exciting as the last 10 years.

The best is yet to come

This is the thought I woke up to today. The Best Is Yet To Come! Honestly, I really needed to hear that too. After doing my morning quiet time I was ready for the world. I am a mother of 4 and there are times when this mama needs an extra boost to my day. I believe that God wanted me to hear it and so I share it with you. Maybe you need to hear it or know someone who does. So I leave you with a few verses that came to me this morning as well. Hope your day is great!!

My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. Psalm 62:1

Never tire of doing what is right. 2 Thessalonians 3:13

Refresh my heart in Christ. Philemon 1:20

Confession: I love to take pictures of sleeping kids

I just can't help it. You never know the small little quirks that you will have as a mother until your are hovering over you sleeping little baby trying to figure out how to turn the flash off of your camera, so you wont wake them up. BUT you need to get this picture to show the whole world just how sweet a sleeping child is. Hmm sounds weird but, we all have our joys in life.

Mine is sleeping kiddos. Here are just a few of the ones I have taken over the years.

This is from our camping trip 2014

This was after a long day at Nana's house.

Oh its too much they are so sweet!

After our trip to the Perot Museum, he is still holding his rock candy

Of course I have a sleeping baby in the high chair!

My sweet Khloe!

They aren't actually asleep, this was after we went for a good long walk at the park.

Sophie after her "Polar Express Day" at school

He would kill me if he knew I posted this...but here is my hunky hubby.
